Linumeric-LPT v1

Linumeric-LPT is a device that allows you to control a CNC machine such as a milling machine, lathe, robot, etc. using LinuxCNC software from a computer without an LPT port. Linumeric-LPT is an absolute NEW! All you need to control is a computer with a USB interface!

Linumeric-LPT is a USB-LPT adapter designed specifically for use with LinuxCNC. It uses special mechanisms that allow stable and reliable work even with a computer that has high delay values ​​(Jitter) up to 200ms! Because the device has Jitter elimination mechanism, almost every computer is suitable for controlling a CNC machine! Linumeric-LPT is a computer LPT interface that does not change the functionality of LinuxCNC in any way. Linumeric-LPT is used just like the standard LPT port and installation in the system is very easy. In addition, Linumeric-LPT can be used simultaneously with the physical LPT port of a computer simply by treating it as a second port. Two Linumeric-LPT devices can be installed in the system at the same time.

Linumeric-LPT on the DB25 connector has the same registers as the standard LPT port:
-DATA
-CONTROL
-STATUS

The DATA and CONTROL registers can be used as inputs or outputs. The STATUS register can be used as inputs.
Linumercic-LPT outputs force high or low state, can be used to control motors (step and direction signals), generate PWM signal or turn devices on / off.
Linumeric-LPT inputs work in OC mode (Open collector) and by default are pulled to the upper power rail (pull-up enabled). The input is activated by shorting the input to ground. Inputs can be used to read sensors (limit sensors, homing, tool or material measurement).

- Interface with the machine - LPT (DB25 connector with pin configuration identical to the standard LPT port)
- Maximum control frequency - 150 kHz
- Inputs read - reaction to any input status change. Not more often than every 20 ms.
- Power supply - 5V from USB
- Configurable inputs and outputs
- Possibility of 2 devices working simultaneously
- Jitter reduction mechanism

Linumeric-LPT has the ability to configure the default I / O values! When using the standard LPT port of the computer, after turning on the computer or during its startup, the values of the I / O is unknown, sometimes there are some random changes which may cause random control values. There is no problem with Linumeric-LPT! We can freely program the default I / O values. Linumeric-LPT has a dedicated Linumeric-LPT configurator application which allows testing and configuring the device (e.g. setting default values ​​or changing the address).
