BlueDig – a simple measurement system for excavators 

BlueDig is a modern, intuitive, and easy-to-install measurement system for excavators that can be mounted independently. Equally important, it is an affordable solution accessible to every budget. The system leverages the capabilities of modern smartphones and tablets, which are now used by nearly every operator. Thanks to wireless inertial sensors communicating directly with the mobile device, BlueDig is currently the simplest and most cost-effective solution of its kind on the market, while providing the operator with real and invaluable support during daily work.

The basic BlueDig kit consists of: 

– the BlueDig application installed on an Android device, 

– four or five (depending on the excavator boom configuration) wireless BlueDig BLE IMU Sensor units.

The sensors are mounted quickly and easily on the machine boom using robust self-adhesive mounts with strong adhesive. This setup is fully sufficient to perform precise excavations with real-time visualization of the bucket position. 

BlueDig enables: 

– defining the excavation plane and its inclination angles (transverse and/or longitudinal), 

– guiding the bucket precisely at a specified height or depth, 

– performing measurements of length, width, height, depth, and inclination angles.  

The same set of sensors can be used on multiple machines. The application allows multiple configurations to be saved, so you only need to transfer the sensors, select the appropriate machine in the app, and start working immediately.

BlueDig delivers maximum functionality, minimal cost, and complete freedom of operation.

Supported machines:

1. Slewing excavator (rotation of the entire upper structure together with the boom).

2. Non-slewing excavator (rotation of the boom only).

Supported boom configurations:

1. Single-articulated boom.

2. Double-articulated boom.

Supported buckets:

1. Standard bucket.

 2. Tilting bucket (power tilt).

The BlueDig system can operate independently or in cooperation with a self-leveling laser, which is used as a height reference for the excavation in any machine position.

Basic kit for a machine with a single-articulated boom: 

– 4 × BlueDig BLE IMU Sensor in a dedicated case 

– 4 × BlueDig BLE IMU Sensor mounting brackets 

– Self-leveling cross-line laser with 10 kHz pulsed mode

Basic kit for a machine with a double-articulated boom: 

– 5 × BlueDig BLE IMU Sensor in a dedicated case 

– 5 × BlueDig BLE IMU Sensor mounting brackets 

– Self-leveling cross-line laser with 10 kHz pulsed mode
